Misconception is a result of individual believing in a wrong thing. Concept of any subject is not clear and it goes on with the passage of time. Science misconceptions are a result where people believe something, and not matches with the science theories. The misconception picked for learning is about the amount of daylight hours increase in each day of summer. In summer, there are less night hours and more day hours. This has also become a misconception in the modern world. The study discussed causes and reasons of this misconception. This will help the learning of students and clear their vision about the science theories.
Your task is to analyze the factors and come up with a practical implication where you can overcome the misconception. We will use the Youtube videos for this purpose, where you can watch videos related to theories of science. These videos can help the students better analyze the misconceptions, and learn how daylight hours are different in summer and winter. What steps and points you will take into account, to clear this misconception about the daylight hours. You have to write about what you know about the day and night hours, what causes the daylight hours to change. Use these questions and make a general discussion on how to rectify these misconceptions. Look into other cities of the world and see how the season evolves there.
On youtube, you can find this video and learn about the misconceptions created about the daylight saving. This video should be seen by the students to make them better analyze and learn about the misconceptions. How countries shift their time zones in order to increase their summer daylight hours. The video tells about the concerns of different regions of the country where the time zone is extended an hour further to increase the sunlight hours. This video also relates different countries like UK, USA, Australia and the impacts on their businesses with the time. Students can watch this video to be able to clear the misconception related to the topic.
After watching what the student has learned, evaluation is going to be done by asking them questions about what they learned and how they learned. Students needs to answer the following questions, to get an overview of what they learned in the subject.
- What misconceptions have you cleared by the study?
- What have you learned by watching the video?
- What have you understood about daylight hours in different regions?
The volume of daylight hours, depending upon the latitude and the theory of earth’s axis. Rotation of shaft is skewed from the orbital line, and it is always pointed in the same direction, i.e., towards the Star in the North (Oberoi, 2017). This results in the variation of Earth’s axis, which is changing whole year, as the earth is revolving around the sun. Sometimes, the Earth’s axis is pointing towards the sun and sometimes away from it. As this positioning is changing in the whole year, the Earth’s sunlight also changes upon any autonomy.
This causes a change in climate difference in the intensity of the sun’s light, which is reaching Earth’s bed and affects the quantity of hours and the daylight (Gurel, Eryılmaz & McDermott, 2015). According to the study, the daylight hours are a result of natural and artificial attempts. Some regions do it to increase their daylight hours in summers, to get more sunshine. While, naturally the revolving of earth causes the shifting of time. Therefore, misconceptions about science have been created long ago, and they should be rectified in order to understand the nature better.
